The Chinese market has one of the most erratic relationship with cryptocurrency as volatile as the Bitcoin value itself. Coin News had the chance to speak with Leon Lau on Bitcoin Kan, one of the trusted Chinese Bitcoin market information resource to spot light Bitcoin in Asia in its finest.
Coin News: Hi Leon, thank you for indulging us. Can you tell us a bit about Bitcoin Kan? How long did it take you guys to launch your business?
Leon Lau: 其实没特别耗费时间来研发上线，2012年因为关注价格的需求自己写了一个工具监控价格，当行情波动时可以播放声音来提醒正在睡觉的我起来操作，很快这个工具受到其他币友的喜爱，于是做成网站（币看网）提供给更多的朋友使用，就这样我们的第一个版本上线了。之后一直采用迭代的开发模式进行不断版本演进。
在发展的过程中最大的挑战是如何快速满足客户日益增长的需求以及应对应接不暇的行业变化，于是我们4个好朋友凑到了一起成立了深圳数字奇点科技有限公司来倾力打造一个优秀的平台，之后推出了Android、iOS平台的币看比特币（Bitcoin Kan）移动客户端，优秀的产品加上成功的营销，使得我们的产品迅速成为中国市场同类产品的翘楚。
In fact, it was not particularly time-consuming to launch our business. In 2012, our founder wrote a tool to monitor prices of bitcoin. Whenever there’s market volatility, it can play a sound to alert him up that the operations were sleeping. Thus, we developed a website (http://btckan.com) to provide services to more people. After that, we have been using Agile development models to continue to release and evolve.
The biggest challenges in the process of development is how to quickly meet customer needs and respond to changes in the industry. So we have four friends set up the company to effort to build a best platform for Bitcoin, and quickly launched the APPs on Android and iOS. The name of the APP is “Bitcoin Kan”, It provides quotes, news, mining monitoring and reminders price of bitcoin. Excellent products with successful marketing, making our products quickly become a leader in the Chinese market.
CNA: What ignited your interest in Bitcoin?
LL: 刚开始只是被比特币的新颖理念所吸引，随着不断的深入了解，我们认为比特币技术是计算机诞生以来的第三次革命（第一次：个人电脑，第二次：互联网），比特币技术（区块链技术）在互联网上成功的构建了信用机制，这一机制使得比特币成为互联网上最佳的支付系统，甚至使得互联网作为一种新的社会形态成为可能。看到这些，我们觉得我不能错过这样一个伟大的时刻，于是我们分别从世界500强的公司中离职投身到比特币这项伟大的事业中来。
At first, we were attracted to novelty idea of Bitcoin. With in-depth understanding, we believe Bitcoin is the third revolution since the birth of computer (First: PC, Second: Internet). The Blockchain technology achieves the credit mechanism on the Internet. We like what makes Bitcoin become the best payment systems on the Internet and even make the Internet as a new form of society possible. So, we cannot miss such a great opportunity, we left from Fortune 500 companies to join Bitcoin.

CNA: Can you share some definite advantages of Bitcoin Kan over other crypto-related ventures?

CNA: In your opinion, what do you think is preventing Bitcoin from going mainstream?
LL: 无边界、迅速到账、低成本的特点，使得比特币最终一定成为互联网及跨国贸易中成为主流的支付手段，但目前比特币的人机界面过于复杂，只有当大众不再去理解比特币的那些繁琐、复杂的地址等信息，像现在使用电子货币那样简单时比特币才有可能成为真正的主流支付手段，当然还要看各国政府对待比特币的态度。
No borders, rapid arrival and low cost, they will make bitcoin ultimately become the Internet and cross-border trade in the mainstream means of payment. But the man-machine interface of Bitcoin is too complex. Only when people do not need to understand addresses and technical details of Bitcoin, like when it’s as easy to use Paypal, Bitcoin is likely to become a true mainstream means of payment. Finally, of course, it also depends on governments treatment of the Bitcoin behavior.
CNA: How do you think Bitcoin will impact the Asian market specifically?

Asia is the world’s engine of economic development. The import and export all settled in US dollars is very inconvenient, even if includes parts of the future use of the Renminbi, but Bitcoin can play a very important role.
In addition, Asia accounts for 61% of the world population. The future of the Internet population will be the main force, and Bitcoin will play the most important role on the Internet, especially trading of digital products.
CNA: What characteristics of Bitcoin Kan do you consider the most revolutionary?

I cannot judge other people’s views, but we think the Bitcoin isn’t only one kind of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin should be based on the main currency and supplemented by altcoins, but only by solving specific problem areas, altcoin can have a living space.
CNA: What can you say about online gambling laws and cryptocurrency legality and regulation?
LL: 我不清楚其他国家的法律规定，在中国赌博是违法的，在线业务应该遵守所服务客户所在地的法律法规。当前币看是一家中国公司，因此我们网站没有任何赌博相关的业务。
I do not know the laws of other countries, but gambling is illegal in China, so online business should comply with the laws and regulations of customer service location. Currently, Bitcoin Kan primarily serves customers in China, therefore our website and APP are not a gambling-related business.
CNA: Do you have a Bitcoin price prediction?
LL: 我相信比特币未来一定会成功，但具体是以何种方式存在，我想目前没人会预料得到。正如当初没有人能预见到互联网今天的发展一样。
I believe that the future of Bitcoin will be successful, but the presence of the specific manner in which is, I think nobody would have predicted at present. As it was no one could have foreseen the development of the Internet as today, I cannot give a specific forecast Bitcoin price.
